½ cup plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour, divided

2 teaspoon salt, divided

¾ teaspoon pepper, divided

½ teaspoon garlic salt

2 pounds boneless beef round steak (3/4 to 1 inch thick), cut into serving-size pieces

3 tablespoons vegetable oil

2 cups chopped green pepper

1 cup chopped celery

1 cup chopped onion

1 garlic clove, minced

2 cans (14-1/2 ounces each) diced tomatoes, undrained

1 cup beef broth

1 tablespoon soy sauce

¼ cup cold water


In a large resealable plastic bag, combine ½ cup flour, 1 teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon pepper and garlic salt.

Add beef, a few pieces at a time, and shake to coat.

Remove meat from bag and pound with a mallet to tenderize.

Heat oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high.

Brown the meat on both sides. Add green pepper, celery, onion and garlic;

Cook and stir for 10 minutes. Add tomatoes, broth, soy sauce and remaining salt and pepper. Cover and bake at 325◦ for 2 hours or until tender.

Remove from the oven and return to stove-top.

Skim fat. In a small bowl, combine cold water and remaining flour; stir into pan juices.

Bring to boil over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened.

Serving Size about 6-8.

Round Steak Stroganoff Recipe (

After the sour cream is added, do not boil the mixture or until curdle.


½ cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon pepper

1-1/2 to 2 pounds beef round steak, trimmed and cut into thin strips

3 tablespoons butter or margarine

1 cup chopped onion

1 garlic clove, minced

1 can (14-1/2 ounces) beef broth

3 tablespoon chili sauce

½ teaspoon ground mustard

1 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced

2 cups (16 ounces) sour cream

Hot cooked noodles

Minced fresh parsley, optional


Combine flour, paprika, salt and pepper in a large resealable plastic bag.

Add beef, a few pieces at a time, and shake to coat.

In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat.

Brown half the beef at a time; remove.

Add onion and garlic; sauté until tender.

Return beef to the pan. Add broth, chili sauce, mustard and mushrooms;

cover and simmer for 1 hour or until the beef is tender.

Stir in sour cream; heat gently but do not boil.

Serve immediately over noodles. Garnish with parsley if desired.

Slow-Cooked Pepper Steak Recipe (
Slow-Cooked Pepper Steak Recipe A slow cooker is perfect to use for less tender meats such as round steak.

Because the meat is cooked in liquid for hours, it turns out and juicy.


2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1-1/2 to 2 pounds beef round steak, trimmed and cut into 3-inch x 1-inch strips

1 cup chopped onion

¼ cup soy sauce

1 garlic clove, minced

1 teaspoon sugar

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon pepper

¼ teaspoon ground ginger

4 tomatoes, cut into eighths or 1 can (14-1/2 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained

2 large green peppers cut into strips

½ cup cold water

1 tablespoon cornstarch

Hot cooked noodles


In a skillet, heat oil over medium-high. Brown beef; drain.

Transfer beef to a slow cooker.

Combine the next seven ingredients; pour over beef.

Cover and cook on high for 1 hour.

Reduce heat to low; cook for 3-4 hours or until meat is tender.

Add tomatoes and green peppers; cook on low 1 hour longer.

Combine the cold water and cornstarch until smooth;

stir into liquid in slow cooker.

Cook on high until thickened.

Serve over noodles.
